IPL Photorejuvenation and Rosacea Redness Treatment
IPL photorejuvenation uses Candela's Selective Waveband Technology (SWT®), a filtered, narrowband form of intense pulsed light. Our PR 530 SWT® applicator is FDA cleared to treat diffuse redness, broken capillaries, mottled brown pigmentation and freckles, and the reddish brown sun damage on the sides of the neck and chest known as poikiloderma. Pulses of light are absorbed by unwanted pigment and blood vessels, which fade over the following weeks for clearer, more even looking skin. Most patients need a short series of 2-4 appointments for the best result, and strict sun avoidance around your treatments is essential.
The same technology is a strong option for the persistent redness of rosacea. Our PR 530 SWT® applicator is FDA cleared for the treatment of rosacea. Its narrowband light is absorbed by the hemoglobin in the dilated blood vessels behind facial redness, visible broken capillaries, and flushing, so those vessels close while the surrounding skin is spared. Candela reports that most patients see a noticeable reduction in redness, visible vessels, and flushing after two to four sessions. Rosacea is a chronic condition with triggers such as sun, heat, and alcohol, so periodic maintenance treatments and a gentle skincare routine help keep results going. IPL addresses the redness and visible vessels of rosacea; bumps and breakouts may also need medical skincare, which your provider will review with you at your consultation.
